This is a spectacular dress made somewhere between the late 50s and very early 60s, purchased at the legendary Spence-Chapin thrift store in the early 00s. Easily the nicest piece of plus-size vintage I’ve ever found. The crochet style gives a bit of stretch, and it feels far more modern than 65-70 years old. It’s incredible how well things were made back then, and this dress is fine to machine-wash, though I recommend using a lingerie/sweater bag and the delicate cycle. It’s a size 20 1/2 in vintage sizing, so please check the measurements.

“I got a lot of wear out of this in the 00s- it’s a dress that works for many occasions, including a beloved colleague’s wedding, and to the Playboy magazine offices the day we shot a fashion shoot with the cast of Mad Men.”
