Black Denim Wrap Skirt with Hand Embroidery

This skirt looks and feels like black denim, but there must be steel in the mix, because this skirt is indestructible. I bought it circa the mid-90s, from Daryl K’s East Village shop and wore it for many years before recently rediscovering it in a storage bag with my other greatest hits of the 90s clothes. The skirt survived a million washes well, including the hand embroidered detail at the waist. When I originally bought this dress, I expressed a little worry that the waist snap wouldn’t hold, so the designer embroidered some strings to tie the two sides together. It’s a beautiful personal touch on a classic piece of clothing.
