rachael: So cute! Just doesn’t work with my wardrobe. leslie: waist has a curve - when measured laid flat its 12.5 inches but when the waist is straightened its 13 inches. i have a 26-27 inch waist and this fits me with room, so i have listed it as 13”. please see 4th and 5th pics for details. i used a blind stitch to shorten this skort to 15 inches and finished the seams with a zig zag stitch to prevent fraying. everything but the first 5 photos are pre-alteration! previous: Original Leon Levin linen Q-skirt / skort! I picked this up at a vintage shop many years ago. It is in very good condition considering it’s age (1960s.) A few very minor light stains here and there that are mostly hidden by the texture of the linen fabric; you truly don’t see them unless you are studying the skirt’s surface way up close (I honestly did not see these until photographing). This sits very high at the waist when zipped up. I believe it fit me when my waist was 27”. Info from the Leon Levin website: “Ladies sportswear was breaking new ground as trousers and shorts became socially acceptable and wardrobe favorites. Leon Levin was at the front of this new trend establishing a reputation for quality and consistency that is still running strong 80 years later…Fast-forward to 1960. Women began to play golf in large numbers which led to the development of the famous Leon Levin "Q" skirt or "skort" which offered the freedom of shorts and soft lines of a skirt. Leon Levin, along with his designer Lulu Roody, developed the skorts with an element of whimsy and fun. Leon Levin prominently promoted Lulu's creations with clever illustrated advertisements in the New Yorker and other regional publications. The Q-skirt became an immediate favorite on the Ladies Professional Golf Tour.”
