Closet Core Kelly Anorak

From my original IG post: After more than two years of planning and gathering materials, I finally finished my #KellyAnorak raincoat! 🧥☔️ I used the lining expansion and sealed the seams with waterproof seam tape. 🧵 Modifications: added a detachable hood with drawstring, replaced the outer pockets with welt pockets with flaps, and added a back vent. 🪡 I planned to use flannel lining for the body and rayon bemberg for the sleeves, and interline the entire coat with Thinsulate for warmth. But once I basted and tried it on I realized it was too thick and puffy. 🤦🏻‍♀️ So I unpicked the whole lining, removed the Thinsulate, cut a new body lining from some flannel-backed satin in my stash, and interlined the whole thing with the original flannel for warmth with less bulk. ✂️ Overall I’m relatively happy with the result, but if i made it again (which i don’t plan to do 😅) - I would do a back slit with a facing instead of a vent, and size up to accommodate the lining.
