This is an absolutely precious Smokey the Bear cotton bandana that was produced by the United States Department of Agriculture in 1951. I picked it up at a thrift store at some point in the early 90s and, because I was a teenage dirtbag, promptly used to clean pipes/bongs when I wasn’t wearing it tied around my hair. I recently found it in storage, and discovered that more pristine versions go for ridiculous amounts of money online, but this Smokey bandana deserves to be loved, not collected. It’s in great structural shape and the cotton is some of the softest and most perfectly worn-in I’ve ever felt. The colors still pop after all this time.
“Already covered that.”
