These shorts are well loved, a very comfortable and sturdy cotton twill. There is pilling in the inner thighs but the material is not wearing through and still has lots of life left I find it hard to know where exactly to measure the hip, so for further clarification, my hips measured about 51 inches at the largest spot and these fit over my hips with room to spare. Back rise: 16.75 **listed as an XXL here but they are a 5 in sotela sizing
