Woodfired Olive Dish 1

Woodfired stoneware plate/tray. I call them olive dishes, but you can use them for whatever you want! Please note that these trays aren’t entirely flat - they have a little bit of a wobble due to the stresses of firing. But still totally functional! I have three more of these listed - happy to sell as a set for a discount. A note on woodfired ceramics: Pottery is most often fired in gas or electric kilns. However, wood-fired kilns are also an option - a technique that has been used for thousands of years. It’s labor-intensive, and the resulting work is unique, organic, and often unpredictable. It’s an aesthetic that’s not for everyone! Generally surfaces are accomplished not through glazing, but solely through the buildup - and subsequent melting - of wood ash on the pots over the course of several days of firing. This work is fully functional, just like other pottery, but it’s sometimes a little rough around the edges as a result of the firing technique. I woodfired almost exclusively for about a decade - feel free to reach out with any questions!
