Lucky Sweater 2024 Lookback

"We know it’s already the end of January (how?!), and that the new year is in full swing — but we couldn’t move forward without pausing to celebrate an incredible 2024! This past year has been one for the books at Lucky Sweater. From the ups and the downs of growing a small startup to saying goodbye to our founding member, Carley, it’s been a year of change. But through it all, I’m so so thankful for every single one of you. Any time we feel challenged, we open the app and see the incredible discussion posts, the stories behind your trades, and thoughtful feedback from this community. It reminds the team and I why we’re building more than a trading app– LS has become a space for connection, support, and inspiration. And that’s why we’re so excited for what’s ahead.

Speaking of exciting things– any guesses on what brands were traded the most this year? And what item(s) took the crown as the most liked on the platform by a landslide? From the cardigan that captured hearts to discussions that sparked new ways to consider personal style, 2024 was filled with moments of creativity, care, and connection that make Lucky Sweater so much more than just an app. Let’s get into some of those highlights, plus, we’re excited to share your survey feedback and how it’s shaping what’s next for Lucky Sweater in 2025.

With love, Tanya & the LS Team"

The Year in Brands: What You Added, Traded, and Loved Most

One of the best parts of Lucky Sweater is seeing the unique stories behind the items and brands our community loves. Each trade, like, and look tells a story—not just about style but about sustainability, creativity, and intentionality.

While our other groups celebrate handmade creations, one-of-a-kind vintage finds, or a more diverse range of brands, this first list reflects heavily on the brands and items from our Slow Fashion community– the largest and most active group on the platform. Just something to keep in mind as you explore the lists below!

Most Loved Brands (by Likes)

These five brands captured your hearts (and your likes!) in 2024. As we mentioned earlier, many of the top-loved items on Lucky Sweater come from the Slow Fashion group, and for good reason–they represent quality, creativity, durability, and values that align with our mission of conscious consumption.

Trading makes these coveted pieces more accessible, often at a fraction of their retail price. The best part? We’ve even seen vintage treasures and me mades traded for a babaà knit! That’s the magic of trading in action: swapping what you no longer need for something you’ll love.

  1. babaà - 74,292 likes
No surprise here—babaà has a way of creating knits that feel like they were made just for you. Their chunky cardigans and oversized sweaters are slow fashion favorites, offering that perfect balance of cozy and effortless style. If there’s one thing this community loves, it’s a knit that goes with everything.

  2. Ace & Jig - 31,522 likes
Ace & Jig’s playful patterns and vibrant colors brought so much joy to your wardrobes this year. These bold, statement pieces are what make swapping fun—and your likes show it!

  3. Rudy Jude - 28,138 likes
Rudy Jude’s earthy tones and naturally dyed fabrics made them a go-to for effortless, everyday style. These laid-back designs are proof that sustainable fashion can be both simple and elevated.

  4. Not Perfect Linen - 26,806 likes
Known for their versatile and breathable designs, Not Perfect Linen pieces were loved for their ability to seamlessly blend style and function. They’re the kind of pieces you can wear all year long, and many of you do, with layers and merino leggings.

  5. Elizabeth Suzann - 23,060 likes
Elizabeth Suzann continues to be a community favorite for good reason. Her timeless pieces are all about versatility and longevity. Whether it’s a classic silk top or a perfectly tailored pair of pants, these are the wardrobe heroes that stick with you season after season.

The Brands You Added the Most

It’s no coincidence that the brands with the most items added to Lucky Sweater also line up with your top-loved favorites. These are the pieces that hold up—literally! From babaà’s cozy knits to Big Bud Press’s bold staples, these brands are showing the value of trading in action: giving high quality clothes a second (or third!) life, and making high-quality fashion accessible to more people.

Looking back on 2024, one thing is clear: this community is unstoppable. From the trades that brought new life to closets, to the generosity of gifting, and the incredible growth of our Sustainer family, it’s been a year of connection, creativity, and care. The numbers below tell the story of what we’ve accomplished together—and they’re just the beginning.

What You Told Us: 2024 Survey Insights

We asked, and you delivered! Your thoughtful feedback in our year-end survey reminded us just how much Lucky Sweater means to this community. Here’s a snapshot of what you said about the platform’s value and where we should head next:

The Value of Lucky Sweater

From fostering intentional wardrobes to forming lasting connections, your words summed up the heart of Lucky Sweater. These quotes showcase what we’re all about: meaningful swaps, sustainable fashion, and a community of care and creativity.

What Groups You Love Most:

You ranked the Slow Fashion group as the most joyful and valuable, with an average rating of 1.37 out of 6 (in this case, lower is better!).

Biggest Challenges

Your honesty helps us grow, and we heard your top challenges:

  1. Not finding swap matches (41.1%)
  2. Unresponsive people (26.3%)
  3. Confusion around the trading model (2.3%)

We’re working on ways to improve swap matching, increase responsiveness, and make the trading process clearer for new users in 2025. Stay tuned!

What’s Next?

We’re always thinking about how to grow Lucky Sweater in ways that resonate with you. When we asked about the next group you’d like to see, Curated Thrift emerged as the top request, followed by Curated Homegoods and Plus Size options — all with very important caveats.

We hear you loud and clear: you want more opportunities to trade thrifted items, but in a way that feels intentional, curated, and fun. We’re already designing ways to make this happen — ensuring that the process stays true to our community values of sustainability, quality, and connection.

We’ll be exploring ways to expand thoughtfully, ensuring that quality control and intentionality remain at the core of Lucky Sweater.

What else? We’re excited to build out more outfit and look features in 2025, including in app highlights of outfit challenges, searching for items within looks, and more!

We want to keep inspiring you, keep you connected, and grow our team to bring even more to this space. But we can’t do it alone—we need your support to make it happen.
